It's been a while since I've posted again--but I just finished Legend (which I absolutely loved) and I'm in the process of typing up my review for it right now! I actually got to meet Marie Lu last Thursday and there was a big turnout for it (well, huge by my standards--all the seats were filled and people were standing behind the chairs to listen to her speak). Her debut party was held at Mysterious Galaxy (an independent bookstore--the one I went to is in Redondo Beach, but their first store is in San Diego) and I need to say that if you're in the area, you need to go check them out.
They have a great YA section and their focus is on YA, MG, science fiction, mystery, horror, and horror. On Saturday from 4pm-5pm they're actually having their first YA Book Group meeting and I definitely intend to go (unless something crazy comes up). If you're nearby, definitely come! I'm pretty darn shy, but if you're there for the YA, I'm sure we have something to talk about! :D (I'll probably wear my Hunger Games shirt from TeeFury.) Did I mention that they also carry signed books? And that some of them online? Because you can totally do that. If you couldn't tell by now, I'm really thrilled that they're so close to home (literally two miles from my house) and more importantly, that they're an independent bookstore! I'm definitely looking forward to more of their book signings and other book related events.
Also, congratulations to entry # 340 (Ashelynn Hetland) who won the ARC of Incarnate by Jodi Meadows! [Please respond within 48 hours; otherwise I'll need to pick another winner. ): ]

{Giveaway} ARC of Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
Incarnate by Jodi MeadowsSummary via Goodreads:
NEWSOUL
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.
NOSOUL
Even Ana’s own mother thinks she’s a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she’ll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are suspicious and afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?
HEART
Sam believes Ana’s new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana’s enemies—human and creature alike—let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else’s life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?
Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life.

{Giveaway} Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier (Closed)
Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era!
Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon--the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

{Giveaway and Mini-Review} Across the Universe by Beth Revis
What can I say about Across the Universe? Uh, I loved it! Granted, I think I might have a new fear of glass boxes reminiscent of coffins now--not that this is a bad thing, but it does prove how powerful I found Beth's writing style to be. Asides from this, there are revelations that you will not see coming and I think you'll end up hating Eldest as much as I do. Seriously though, this is a book that I'd recommend everyone check out. I mean, it's rare for me to like a book marketed as science fiction, but I sure did love Across the Universe. I hope you will too!
Thanks to Penguin Teen I have two ARCs to give away. One is signed (with the newer ARC cover) and that one will go to the first place winner while the second one has the slightly older cover and isn't signed (that one will go to the second place winner). To be honest, I'm not quite sure how I ended up with the unsigned ARC--it showed up via Fedex earlier this week--but there's no way that I'm going to hog it and well, it means a second winner! :D
Again, I'm afraid that this has to be US only as I have to pay for shipping and well, my funds are currently devoted to the holiday season. D: To enter this contest, leave a comment with your e-mail address and I'll pick the winners via random.org. Winners will be announced on December 16th and they will have 48 hours to respond. :)
Meanwhile, here's the book trailer for Across the Universe!
