In My Mailbox (1)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren and it allows bloggers to see what books other bloggers have received/bought.

Between my birthday and a lot of, "Wow, that really sounds interesting and I should really get my hands on that!" my stack of books bought this week has been a little on the high side. Please excuse the not so great picture quality--the lighting in my room leaves much to be desired.

In order from top to bottom:

No Plot? No Problem! by Chris Baty
Because yes, I intend to participate in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) this year. I'm in the process of stretching out my plot and adding in sub-plots in an attempt to hit 50,000 words at a relative pace and as little hair pulling as possible. (Bought)

Dark Road to Darjeeling by Deanna Raybourn
I was so excited when I saw that the fourth novel of Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey mystery series was out, I had to run out and pick up a copy immediately! I've already read it and once I refresh my memory of the first and second books, I'll probably review it. (Bought)

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
After hearing so much about this series, I had to pick up a copy. I've already read it too, hopefully I'll stick my review of it up later this week. (Bought)

Bloodlines by Lindsay Anne Kendal
I saw this novel popping up on several GoodReads lists and decided that it sounded like my sort of thing to read and though I haven't read it yet, I'm looking forward to it! This particular link goes to GoodReads because they do seem to be the only ones with a summary of Bloodlines. (Bought)

The Unidentified by Rae Mariz
I won a copy through GoodReads First Reads. And well, I've reviewed it already. It was pretty good, but admittedly not entirely what I thought it'd be. (Won)

Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin
Another book that I saw other people reading and again, the plot looked interesting (I'm also a sucker for fae related stories). As it happens, I'm madly in love with the cover of this book, it's gorgeous in person! (Bought)

Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen
Set in the 1920's? Flappers? Socialites? Consider me sold! Another book that I can't wait to start reading. (Bought)

Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus
Another book that I've heard a lot about and thus, bought. Loving the sound of it from the plot summary. (Bought)

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Victorian era? Steampunk? And it deals with Downworlders? I am so there! I'm currently reading it actually and as expected, I like it. (Bought)

  1. Very nice stuff.

New follower. Just though you should know that the review policy *may* be better suited in a separate page, rather than a post. (You can make pages when you click the "Edit posts" tab)

Happy reading! Good luck with blogging. ;)

  2. Hello fellow Wrimo! :) No Plot No Problem is a very good handbook for NaNoWriMo, and I've been using it for years! :)

  3. @Cass; Thank you for the advice! :D I'm off to fix where my review policy is--still getting used to Blogger (slowly, but surely!). xD

Also, I follow your blog--it's quite lovely!

@Tina; Why hello there! :D I'm glad to hear that it's a good book, I've only gotten to the first chapter so far, but Chris has such an entertaining writing style!

  11. OMG I so want No Plot, No Problem and Bright Young Things. I LOOOVED the Luxe series by the same author (did you read it?) but haaated the ending, so I'm hoping this series ends better.

  12. @Chrissie; Thank you for stopping by! And wishlists are ever growing things, aren't they? :D

@ifmary; I finally finished reading Clockwork Angel and as you said, it was quite good! I'll probably be on to Extraordinary after Bloodlines, so hopefully my review will go up no later than Wednesday!

@Carrie; It does indeed. :3 Thank you for stopping by!

@Nikki-ann; Thank you for stopping by! And there are so many good books coming out lately!

@Nikkibrandyberry; Thank you! Hopefully NaNoWriMo goes smoothly--one can only hope! xD

@Jackie b; I completely agree! I'm actually the opposite and often stick to YA although I wander out to Adult every now and again (book covers and interesting summaries are my undoing).

@Briana; Thank you! :3 I'm trying to save Bright Young Things as a reward to myself once I finish reviewing a few of the other books from my stack. xD

@Candace; Thanks! And I completely agree! Clockwork Angel was really good. My review of Bright Young Things should go up no later than Friday if I keep my reading/blogging schedule. :D

@Jordyn; I've read the first book from the Luxe series but admittedly no farther than that (I liked it, but I never got really into it). I'll have to re-read the first one and then see about getting the rest of the series!
