It's Follow Friday #39

Yes, it's that time of the week again! It's Follow Friday which is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The question of the week is:
Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

This is going to sound sort of strange coming from someone who usually hates hot weather, but I'd have to say Flagstaff, Arizona. I've only been there once (in the summer) but I really, really love how relaxed it feels out there and despite the weather during the summer, it's a gorgeous town. Also, did I mention that the food is pretty darn good as well? Because it definitely was.

But you should probably understand that I live in a city that has about 140,000 people in it and that our traffic sucks--which means that Flagstaff is about half our size and thus, in my mind, small. Not that I mind where I live--I have about a ten minute drive to the beach, depending upon traffic--just that I like looking at things other than buildings sometimes.

  1. I absolutely love the heat, but I've never made it down to that part of the country. Sounds nice, though.

  3. I'm not familiar with the weather in Arizona (Heck, I'm not even familiar with the weather in my home-country. o.o) so.. mind to explain? :D

  4. o.O my home state. I was born and raised in Arizona. And I couldn't wait to escape it. LOL. Don't get me wrong, it's a great state, it really is. But I'm not much of a summer person and if you have been there during the summer you know how HOT!!!!! it gets. While I was raised in Phoenix, I lived in Flagstaff briefly because I attended NAU, so while I couldn't wait to get out of Arizona I can fully understand the beauty you saw in it, because it is really a pretty city. I loved it during the winter. =D

  5. Hopping through. Like Cassie, I've never appreciated Flagstaff. I'm from Phoenix and couldn't wait to escape it either. I've only been to Flagstaff 2 or 3 times though so I haven't explored it. I miss AZ now - not because it's pretty but because it's home.

  7. That sounds like a really good place! Why is it so difficult for us readers to find a nice place to settle down and read? :)

I would love to go back to Flagstaff. Haven't been there since 2001 when I was also in New Mexico for a week.

  9. It sounds like a very nice place! I'm an old follower stopping by ^^

  10. Sounds really nice.

  11. I don't think your answer, Flagstaff, sounds strange because I currently live in Tucson where it is TRULY hot, hot, hot. Flagstaff is a bit of a respite from the summer heat due to the elevation. And yes, it's beautiful. Happy summer.
