In My Mailbox #7

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren and it allows book bloggers to show what they've gotten in the mail this week--as in books bought, borrowed, traded, received for review, etc.

Bought
Darklight by Lesley Livingston
Actually, upon purchasing this, I realized that I don't have the first book in the series. Because of this, I'm waiting until I go to the bookstore again before I read Darklight.
The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
This is a book I've been interested in for some time now--and since it finally came out as a paperback, I decided to pick it up.
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
I've heard a lot about Anna and the French Kiss, and decided that I liked Stephanie's writing style--while reading her blog and her tweets. Anyways, this lead to an eventful bookstore outing as it wasn't on display yet and I ended up having two employees help me locate a copy. Happily, as you can tell, they had it and after they handed me a copy, they put the other copies of it up on the new releases shelf. Also, apparently the manager had never heard the the word "dystopian" used to describe a book--we discussed The Hunger Games while hunting for a copy of Anna and the French Kiss
Matched by Ally Condie
Upon hearing so many good things about Matched and liking both the cover and the plot, I knew I had to pick up a copy. I finished reading it today and well, chances are my review will go up tomorrow night.

Received for Review
Across the Universe by Beth Revis (via Penguin Group)
Er, that is to say, I think that's the reason why I got another copy--not that I'm complaining. I've already read Across the Universe now and even if you aren't a science fiction person, I think you can enjoy this. That is to say that I really enjoyed it and well, there are several things that will surprise you--or at least, they certainly surprised me.

Won (not pictured):
Daughter of Darkness by V.C. Andrews
I won this from Tynga of Tynga's Reviews a little while ago and it finally came in! Admittedly I've read this already and I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about it which is why there isn't a review up for it just yet--it's sitting as a draft right now.

  7. Wow. Nice collection. Anna and the French Kiss looks good; I haven't really heard much about it recently. I'll be interested to see what you think of the new V.C. Andrews, some of the reviews on Amazon are a little too scathing so I'm waiting for some level headed analysis before I invest! :-)
