Waiting on Wednesday #65

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Giiiiannne here! :D How are you all this fine Wednesday? (If you'd like to know my response, I will say that as I type this I admit that I hunger for some food right now and am not feeling too great about my upcoming test, quiz, AND essay this week!)

ANYWAYS, as much as I would love to ramble on and bore you all to tears, alas I must direct you all to the main event... our WoW picks!

Kristin is totally pining for...

The Ruining by Anna Collomore

The Ruining by Anna Collomore releases on February 7th, 2013,
published by Razorbill at Penguin Group.

Summary via Goodreads

Annie Phillips is thrilled to leave her past behind and begin a shiny new life on Belvedere Island, as a nanny for the picture-perfect Cohen family. In no time at all, she falls in love with the Cohens, especially with Libby, the beautiful young matriarch of the family. Life is better than she ever imagined. She even finds romance with the boy next door.

All too soon cracks appear in Annie's seemingly perfect world. She's blamed for mistakes she doesn't remember making. Her bedroom door comes unhinged, and she feels like she's always being watched. Libby, who once felt like a big sister, is suddenly cold and unforgiving. As she struggles to keep up with the demands of her new life, Annie's fear gives way to frightening hallucinations. Is she tumbling into madness, or is something sinister at play?

The Ruining is a complex ride through first love, chilling manipulation, and the terrifying depths of insanity.

So, the real question is... WHY did she pick this? (But seriously, why wouldn't she pick this? THIS SOUNDS AWESOME.)

Kristin: In all honesty, I have been craving a good thriller and hopefully The Ruining will fit the bill. With that summary though? My fingers are crossed and I'm hoping for a wild ride.

Gianne: AHHHH. I so agree with you! I got CHILLLLLS when I read this summary. This book seems so creepy and possibly disturbing, which I must HAVE.

Gianne is going completely bonkers over...

The Falconer by Elizabeth May

The Falconer by Elizabeth May releases on May 16th, 2013,
published by Chronicle Books.

Summary via Goodreads:

Edinburgh, Scotland, 1844

18 year old Lady Aileana Kameron, the only daughter of the Marquess of Douglas, was destined to a life carefully planned around Edinburgh's social events - right up until a faery kills her mother.

Now it's the 1844 winter season. Between a seeming endless number of parties, Aileana slaughters faeries in secret. Armed with modified percussion pistols and explosives, every night she sheds her aristocratic facade and goes hunting. She's determined to track down the faery who murdered her mother, and to destroy any who prey on humans in the city's many dark alleyways.

But she never even considered that she might become attracted to one. To the magnetic Kiaran MacKay, the faery who trained her to kill his own kind. Nor is she at all prepared for the revelation he's going to bring. Because Midwinter is approaching, and with it an eclipse that has the ability to unlock a Fae prison and begin the Wild Hunt.

A battle looms, and Aileana is going to have to decide how much she's willing to lose - and just how far she'll go to avenge her mother's murder.

Gianne: Now...why did I pick this? Mainly because this looks like it could live up to the epicness that which is the IRON FEY SERIES (!!!) by Julie Kagawa. That series is amazing. Anyways, yeah, this seems to be giving off some historical fantasy action adventure vibes, along with some POSSIBLE SEXY TIMES? Hmm? Kiaran, COME TO ME. NOW.

Also, this releases on May SIXTEENTH? I wonder who's going to get me a four month early birthday present... >:D *coughcough y'all know who you are!*

What are you guys waiting for this week? ♥
