It's Follow Friday once again and well, if you don't know it by now, Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee.
The Question of the Week is: What is your usual monthly book budget?
To be honest, I really don't have one set. If I had to estimate or guess, I'd say it's about fifty dollars a month--although depending upon what's getting released during the month, it can go up. My priority is always the new releases--that I've been waiting for--followed by books I've been thinking about getting--usually these books are picked based upon reviews from other bloggers and/or the summaries on the back covers. Er, if I'm painfully honest, covers also do play a part in what books I end up getting from the bookstore. I am a huge sucker for a snazzy cover.
It's also Blog Hop time again and well, Blog Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books.
The Question of the Week is: If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?
I'm going to admit that I've been guilty of reading a series out of order before. However, I do prefer to read a series in order. Actually, I'm pretty funny about it and I'll buy one book at a time--just in case I fall out of love with the series--unless I'm really, really in love with the series.
And those are the questions this week! Feel free to leave me a comment and if you'd like for me to follow you, please leave a link! Well, you can leave a link anyways--I always love to see other answers to the weekly questions. :D
Wow, your blog is gorgeous! I'm a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteI could never read a series out of order. I've tried, and I ended up very confused. Hasn't happened since, haha.

Hopping through and now following you! I have to admit I've read a book series, or two, out of order. Those usually stood alone, so I was not too confused.
ReplyDeleteHopped in to say hi and am now a follower. My priorities are new releases to, I love being able to pre-order books, and then forget about the charges. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristin, just hopping by to say hello, it's been lovely meeting you.
ReplyDeletestopping by from follow friday..
ReplyDeletedon't worry, we all are guilty of picking up books based on their covers. I do it all the time lol. Is it terrible? Yes. But I still am guilty :)
That's really smart about only buying one at a time. I usually get the first one from the library, just so I don't have to commit. Great blog by the way, I'ma new follower.
ReplyDeleteHey! I'm your newest follower; just stopping by on the hop to wish you a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI try to read a series in order but every now and then I'll make a mistake without realizing it. Like you, I only buy one book out of a series at a time to make sure I like it and want to continue. Unless it's an author I adore and am already commited to the series.

Hopping by! I always have to start with book one! Hope you come by and see my answer!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristin!
ReplyDeleteJust hoppin' on by. I HAVE to read a series from the beginning, I'm so anal that way. If I can't get the first book I won't read the series.
Hope you have a lovely book filled weekend!

I loveee snazzy covers! They always influence what I buy. I'll buy a book mainly on my interest level, of course, but I love having pretty shelves with pretty books on them! haha.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, old follower just popping in! Have a great weekend :)
If you get a chance, check out my blog :)

I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
ReplyDeletedoesn't run chronologically.
That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.
On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.
Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

Hi Kristin. New follower from the hop and follow Friday. I generally spend btw 50 & 100 each month but it does vary based on what's coming out that month. I always check the bargain section at the bookstore...found Hush, Hush in HB for 4.99...what a bargain!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Thanks for the advice on Guardians, Old follower -- I don't really have a book budget. I am no good at budgets. I start all over a series. Usually the hot current release and then I try to catch up. Life is too short to worry about it!
ReplyDeleteHey, I have a groovy giveaway from Tyger Tyger's author Kersten Hamilton and a guest post. Today I reviewed Iron Queen. Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dust
